The Rockport Public Library will host its second annual Seed Fest on Saturday, April 11. This free, family-friendly event will take place on the upper and lower levels of the library.

From 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., visitors can browse educational exhibits and activities covering seed-starting, pollinators, soil health, composting, native plants, heirloom vegetables, growing rice and grains in Maine, Wabanaki food sovereignty, and much more.

At noon on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, writer, boatbuilder, and outdoor enthusiast Kevin Martin will speak in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library about the biggest trees in Maine and New England. This talk, sponsored by the Belfast Garden Club, is free and open to the public. All are invited to attend the tree-measuring walk and demonstration that will take place at 3:30 p.m.

Join Georges River Land Trust for a guided group hike along the trails of the Appleton Preserve on Saturday, April 18. Hikers should meet at the trailhead at 10 a.m. The hike will cover about 2.5 miles of trails, with portions of uneven ground. Planning for wet and muddy conditions by wearing boots may be helpful, according to GRLT, in a news release.

2026 Rockland Harborside Cleanup to celebrate Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, the City of Rockland will host the Rockland Harborside Cleanup on Saturday, April 25. The Cleanup is an opportunity to care for Rockland’s shared spaces as a community and reduce the amount of litter and marine debris in and around Rockland Harbor.

The Cleanup will take place from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., beginning at Harbor Park in Rockland. Cleanup volunteers will be provided with all the tools needed to help collect litter at various locations around Rockland’s waterfront.

On Wednesday, April 8, at 1 p.m., Maine Master Gardener Volunteer John Fromer will give a presentation at the Rockport Public Library that will explore which types of flowers are pollinator-friendly, and which have become unfriendly due to over-hybridizing.

BELMONT—The garden space is still fallow on a dreary March day at  77 Halls Corner Road in Belmont, but a bright, hand-painted wooden cupboard at the end of the driveway beckons neighbors to stop and take a peek inside.

Mossflower Cottage Bakery is the home-baking business of Whitney Brown, 37, a wife and mother of two boys, 10 and 14, whom she schools at home.

OWLS HEAD — Two years ago, The Apron at Terminal A, a fast casual restaurant helmed by Matthew Stilphen, opened inside the Knox County Regional Airport terminal.

This past winter, with the help of Evan Stevens, a visual artist and self-taught home cook, The Apron is spreading its wings and rebranding as a different culinary concept called Nomad.

Stilphen is now taking an administrative role, allowing Stevens to take his unique spin to the restaurant.

Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District (KLSWCD) will host an Environmental Youth Education Fundraiser, Tuesday, March 24, from 5 to 8 p.m., at American Flatbread Company, 399 Commercial Street (U.S. Route 1) in Rockport. American Flatbread will donate a portion of the evening’s pizza sales to support KLSWCD’s free K–12 education programs for students in Knox and Lincoln counties. Programs include the National Conservation Poster Contest (grades K–6), Read ME Agriculture (Pre-K–4), and the Maine Envirothon competition (grades 9–12).

Legion Post 30 to hold luncheon for Vietnam and era Veterans

Vietnam and era Veterans are invited to a special luncheon on March 29, at American Legion Post 30 in Camden.

"Post 30 encourages all Vietnam and era Veterans to attend whether they served in country or in support roles to connect with their Brothers and Sisters," said Jeff Sukeforth/District 6 Legion Commander, in a news release.

Each veteran may also bring a guest to the luncheon.

Social time begins at noon with lunch being served at 12:30 p.m. Vets eat free with a donation requested for their guests.

BELFAST — As part of its ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity, MaineHealth Waldo Hospital has added a “Help Yourself” food pantry shelf inside MaineHealth Primary Care Family Medicine Brooks, located at 55 Reynolds Road. This new shelf marks the 12th shelf serving Knox and Waldo counties.

SEARSPORT — Puzzlers of all ages are invited to join Carver Memorial Library on Saturday, March 28, for the Third Annual Puzzle Palooza.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Library will host a puzzle swap, where you can take one puzzle for every one you bring.

At 1 p.m., the Puzzle Race begins. Teams of up to four will compete to see who can finish their 550 piece puzzle first. All teams will get to keep their puzzle and the winning team will win a "fabulous" prize, according to the Library, in a news release.
