Rockland District Nursing's 2026 Basket Social follows fall theme
Event Date
Saturday, September 26, 2026 - 09:00 am to 12:00 pm
Celebrate community nursing at the Rockland District Nursing Association (RDNA) Basket Social on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Eliza Steele Memorial Garden, at MacDougal Park, on Broadway, in Rockland.
This year’s curated bake sale is a fall theme that will include pumpkin bars and muffins, apple cakes and pies, pulla bread and yeast rolls, "all lovingly made by bakers in the communities RDNA serves," said RDNA, in a news release. There will be gluten free offerings. Local businesses have generously filled raffle baskets with adventures and gifts. Raffle tickets are 2 for $10 or 5 for $20, and will be sold the day of the event. Winners are not required to be present during the drawing.
In the garden, Carolyn Rasmussen and Nancy Snyder will be reading The Leaf Thief and The Rough Patch, after which attendees are invited to create a "make and take" fall project. There will be a “kids corner” with face painting, chalk art and goodies.
"Rumor has it that scarecrows will make an appearance as well, said RDNA.
Peta vanVuuren, RDNA agency director, says: “this event, gathering with friends and neighbors of all ages, is really important to RDNA and our ability to carry on the almost century-old tradition of district nursing.”
RDNA’s largest source of operating income remains community donations: "every Doughnator, pie, raffle ticket, and biscuit count," said RDNA.

All proceeds benefit RDNA, a 501(c)(3) organization.
