ROCKLAND — Elizabeth "Betty" H. Knight, 99, widow of John L. Knight, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Bartlett Woods in Rockland.

She was born in Rockland, Maine, on September 28, 1926, to Oliver W. and Augusta (Maxcy) Holmes. Betty attended local schools and was a proud graduate of Rockland High School, Class of 1944. On July 2, 1948, she was united in marriage with John L. Knight, who predeceased her on November 16, 2003.

Betty is survived by her cousin, Ellen M. Shew; longtime friends, the Story family; her late husband John’s extended family, the Sweeny’s and Brannan’s; and many loving cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 10 a.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. She will privately be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, John, at Achorn Cemetery in Rockland.
