WARREN — A rain shower briefly soaked the region around 1 p.m., Sunday afternoon, though the moisture arrived too late, and wouldn’t have been intense enough, to save a structure on the Finntown Road.

Sept. 6, 2026, in the middle of Labor Day weekend, at approximately noon, Warren firefighters were called to 1.5-story detached garage at 1366 Finntown Road, along with their mutual aid towns of Union and Waldoboro. The first firefighter to arrive noted that flames were visible, and that live electrical wires were burning and falling from the structure. Soon after this initial scene report, additional assistance was requested in the form of tanker trucks from Cushing and Friendship, as well as a request to Central Maine Power to disconnect the electricity that powered the lines in that vicinity.

By 12:40 p.m., the structure was mostly rubble, with firefighters continuing to search for hot spots in the debris, as well as to saturate sparks that had landed on overreaching tree limbs.

A water supply pool was set up in the driveway at a bend in the road, where tanker truck water deliveries were off-loaded before returning to the refill venue.

By 2:30 p.m., Friendship, Waldoboro, and Cushing firefighters, as well as Warren EMS, had left the scene. By 3 p.m., all Warren firefighters had also left the scene.
