Tony Gallace, obituary
WALDOBORO — Tony Gallace passed away October 13, 2026. He was born January 26, 1976, in Camden, Maine, a son of Sherry Gallace and the late Peter Gallace.
He is survived by his son, Andrew, and his wife Abbey along with their son Odin; his mother, Sherry Gallace; sister, Susie Pease and her husband Pete; brother, Pete Gallace and his wife Kim; nieces and nephews, Nicolas Pease and his wife Vivian, Emily Heal and her husband Cody, Isabella Gallace, and Julia Gallace; girlfriend, Kat Read, and her children Kaelyn, Gavin, and Stella.
He was an amazing father to his son, Andrew, and father-in-law as well. He had a special place in his heart for his grandson, Odin, who he loved taking on adventures and spending time with.
Tony was a true Waldoboro legend (often referred to as “the mayor”) and knew almost everyone in town through his father’s former plumbing and heating business, delivering mail through the postal service, and his various endeavors giving back to the community. He had a passion for the ocean and a contagious laugh that we all loved to hear. He also loved the simple-life and always talked about wanting to slow down so he could spend more time hunting and fishing.
A pillar of the Waldoboro community, Tony long dedicated his time and energy to ensuring his neighbors are fed, supported, and connected. As the driving force behind the local Feed the Need program, Tony turned community service into an art form, helping individuals give back to their town through meaningful local projects.
His vision for a stronger, more self-sufficient Waldoboro came to life through the Edible Waldoboro initiative. For over a decade, Tony could be found tending the community garden on Depot Street or working tirelessly to build a greenhouse at the historic Otis Benner Farm & Forgery on Route 1 to grow fresh vegetables for those facing food insecurity. His goal was simple yet profound: to show by example how much a small community can grow when everyone works together.
Beyond his agricultural initiatives, Tony was known as a man who brings people together through the simple comfort of good food and a warm grill. Whether he was supplying and cooking food for local celebrations of life or setting up a massive barbecue under the tent for the Waldoboro Business Association’s Business After Hours events, Tony’s generosity and legendary grilling skills defined countless community gatherings. Some may be happy to know that traffic in Waldoboro may speed up a little considering he will not be driving slowly in the breakdown lane with his truck freighted with supplies for his next endeavor.
His resilience, unwavering work ethic, and massive heart will leave a lasting footprint on the landscape of Waldoboro and the lives of its residents. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
