Steven A. Thyng, obituary
Steven A. Thyng, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy of hard work, love of family and friends, as well as his love for outdoor adventure.
Steven loved his family deeply; they meant the world to him, and he was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Born with a deep appreciation for nature, Steven was happiest when he was outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding peace and joy in the quiet of the woods and on the water. His absolute favorite place to be was "up north," making unforgettable memories and sharing laughs alongside his fiancé, Kim; his brother, John; and his cousins Robert and Paul Demuele and Roger Smith.
Steven was a pillar of reliability and dedication in his professional life, dedicating 31 years of loyal service to PTI in Scarborough. Throughout his decades there, he earned the deep respect of his colleagues and held the utmost respect for his boss, Mike Jordan. Steven's work ethic and integrity were defining features of his character.
He is survived by his fiancé, Kim Grenier; his sons, Joshua and his wife Alyssa of Bangor, and Michael of Kennebunk; and Michael’s mother, Jennifer Thyng. He is also survived by his parents, John and Claudette Thyng of Kennebunk; his brother, John and his wife Tina of Mapleton, Maine; his sister Gail Kenney and her husband James of Rockland, Maine; and his sister Karen McGlynn and her husband Patrick of Virginia.
Steven also shared a special, lifelong bond with his cousins Roger Smith, Tom Henry Thyng, Jimmy Thyng, and Sherman Thyng, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Steven will be deeply missed but forever remembered at family gatherings, around the campfire, on the boat, in the woods and in the hearts of everyone who loved him. Until we meet again my brother!
