Three vehicles involved in Rte 1 Warren head-on collision, non-life threatening injuries
WARREN — Traffic along a portion of Atlantic Highway (Route 1) in Warren came to a standstill, Wednesday morning, following a head-on collision, resulting in three vehicles being hauled from the scene, and transports to the hospital for one person with obvious injuries and a second person whose pain developed after the initial shock wore off.
The operator of a northbound red car is reported to have crossed the center line at approximately 8:20 a.m., Oct. 28, 2026, at the crest of a windy incline, directly into the path of a brand new white Toyota RAV4 occupied by two adults. The windy lane, plus the sudden appearance of the red car, left the RAV4 with nowhere to go to avoid the crash. Behind the RAV4 was a third vehicle that was involved in the chain reaction. The force of the impact pushed the red car off the road into a ditch near Spear Spring Farm, 1384 Atlantic Hwy. At least one vehicle lost a tire.
Warren EMS responded to the scene and Waldoboro EMS was started since Warren only has one ambulance. Also, per request of first officials on scene, Waldoboro FD was put into motion for its extrication equipment. Waldoboro FD was soon canceled as extra extrication equipment was deemed unnecessary. Waldoboro EMS was canceled when three out of the four people involved claimed to be uninjured. Eventually, though, the traffic buildup from the north prompted a request for Thomaston FD to close the road at Atlantic Highway and Oyster River Road. And, when a second person started to realize pain, Thomaston EMS was requested for transport to MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital.
Knox County Sheriff's Office responded.
Maine Towing brought three wreckers to the scene.
The road reopened at approximately 9:15 a.m.
