The Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of an exhibition of fine art entitled “Seasons’ Rhythms” by Rockland artist Gwen Sylvester on October 28, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Art has been a fundamental aspect of Sylvester’s life since childhood, according to a Craignair Gallery news release. In college, the artist explored many art forms from sculpture and printmaking to numerous painting and drawing mediums. She has been painting in Maine for more than 30 years where she has found inspiration in the natural beauty of the coast. Sylvester’s work is based upon seeing and responding to the power of nature and the quiet beauty in the world.

“Moods of the sea forests, expansive vistas, intricate foliage and glimpses of wildlife inspire me,” the artist explains, in the news release.

"The artist’s paintings are recognizable for their delicate, thin or atmospheric layers of glazes yielding energetic and vibrant results," said The Craignair.

Seasons’ Rhythms will be on exhibition from October 28 through December 1, 2026.

The Craignair Gallery, located at 5 Third Street in Spruce Head, is open daily.
