No Kings Day protesters return to Rockland for Oct. 2026 rally
ROCKLAND — As an act to remind the nation and the world that they are not in agreement, or complacent, to the ways of the current federal administration, Rockland-area individuals united at Chapman Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Rockland, for another No Kings Day, this time with a march and rally for early voting.
Joining an already large noontime crowd was a group of pedestrians who marched from the 75 Maverick Street strip mall, picking up more foot traffic as they wended their way for approximately 2 miles along the sidewalks of Broadway, Limerock, and downtown Main streets.
While hundreds of protesters lined two sides of the Main and Park Street intersection, with a few more on opposite sidewalks, others filled space within the park, listening to 2-minute orations from an open mic set. Democratic candidates and others took the opportunity to say their piece.
Rockland police officers were visible, occupying their time by maintaining traffic control at crosswalks. Because some rally organizers predicted of upwards of 2,000 protesters, a couple members of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene. The March 28, 2026 No Kings rally produced approximately 2,300 participants and many of those participants were still reacting to the news of ICE-related shootings of Renee Good (January 7, 2026) and Alex Pretti (January 24, 2026) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as other actions around the country.
The Rockland rally remained peaceful, with only the occasional word of a passerby trying to agitate the crowd.
