The Needle-Felted Ornaments workshop from 1:30 – 4:00 pm is for ages10 and up. During this beginner needle felting class, participants will have the option to create wool Christmas ornaments using dyed wool and premade ornament core shapes, cookie cutter ornaments, or if time allows, both types of ornaments. Class instruction includes needle care and safety precautions, wool types used, and explanation and demonstration of the needle felting process. Colors and design will be up to each student, though examples will be provided. The cost is $35 for Merryspring members or $40 non-members and is non-refundable.

Sam Coon is a self-taught fiber artist and has been making felt since being introduced to both needle felting and wet felting in 2009. Much of her inspiration is gleaned from the natural environment, particularly patterns, colors, and shapes. What particularly stands out the most to her, when working with wool to make felt, is that the sculptural qualities of wool are impressive, making creative possibilities seemingly endless. Along with working in the studio, she also regularly teaches needle and wet felting classes at varying locations and age groups.

This Weekend Workshop is generously sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.

Workshop size is limited and pre-registration is required for all workshops. To register, please call 207-236-2239.
