Megan Smist Thill, obituary
SOUTH THOMASTON — Megan Lynn Smist Thill, beloved wife, mother, friend, and teacher, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2026 at the age of 47 leaving behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a love that will remain eternally in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born on June 29, 1979 in Bangor, Maine, Megan lived a life of love, kindness, travel, and devotion. She had a special way of making others feel loved and valued. Her presence brought warmth and happiness to those around her.
As a wife, she was a loving companion, dependable partner, and the person with whom her husband shared life’s greatest joys and most difficult moments. Their journey together was filled with memories, experiences, laughter, and a love that became the core of their lives.
She was a devoted mother, and her family was her greatest blessing. Whether through life’s big milestones or the simple moments spent together, she showed her love in countless ways. The memories she created, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave will live on.
Megan will also be remembered for her passions, hobbies, personality, and odd sense of humor.
She found happiness in family, dogs, and travel. The love she gave did not end with her passing; it lives on in the hearts of her husband, son, family, and all those whose lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. Though we must carry on without her beside us, we will carry her in our hearts, finding comfort in the memories we shared and gratitude for the time that we were blessed to have with her.
Megan is survived by her adoring husband, Craig Thill, their beloved son, Gilbert Thill; her devoted parents, Mark and Peggy Smist; as well as her loving brother, John Smist.
Family, friends, students and all who knew Megan are invited to a Gathering of love and Remembrance on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 4 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland, Maine.
