Camden man on probation is accused by police of gun possession
Rockland – A Camden man remains in custody at the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset on a probation hold after he was arrested Oct. 15 for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Seth Young, 28, was arrested by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for the alleged gun offense, but a situation of dog abuse at the home where the gun was located may lead to additional charges following an investigation..
According to the affidavit filed in court by police, they were conducting surveillance at Andes Variety in Warren Thrusday night, Oct. 15, and observed a suspected drug deal with Young and another man, who was the driver of the vehicle. The officers then informed Young that they were also going to conduct a check at his residence since he was currently under the conditions of probation for a prior drug possession charge.
Young told police that they would find a double barrel shotgun inside his bedroom which they did along with ammunition.
After police entered Young’s residence where the gun was located, they found two dogs, each in separate cages, who were malnourished with their bones showing. The cages were full of fresh and old dog feces which were also located throughout the residence.
When the animal control officer lifted one of the dogs from the cage, it had a sore on the rear area due to sitting so long, according to the court document.
Young was arrested without incident by police and initially transported to the Knox County Jail.
He made his initial appearance in Knox County Court before Judge John Martin on the gun possession charge Oct. 16. Bail was set at $2,500 cash although Young remains in jail on the probation hold..
Young is scheduled to appear in court again Nov. 13.
