West Bay Rotary

The West Bay Rotary Club of Camden, Maine was chartered in May of 1986. A small group of charter members decided to create a breakfast club and obtained the sponsorship of the well-established Camden Rotary Club. The Camden club continues as a successful luncheon club.  West Bay has grown in membership and dedication to the spirit of Rotary over the years.

Club members have made many significant contributions to the Midcoast community and to the greater Rotary world. Each year the club has made financial and hands-on contributions to worthy projects and organizations in the area. It has provided vocational scholarships to assist students and heating oil funds to the three area towns for distribution. Members have supported local organizations such as Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, Knox County Homeless Coalition, One Less Worry, New Hope for Women, local food banks, and many others . While doing this, the club has supported programs of Rotary International such as the world-wide program to eradicate polio.

West Bay Rotary has five major fundraising events:  Chili Challenge, eWaste+, Duck Derby, Chowder Challenge, and Christmas Tree Sales.  Members park cars at the National Toboggan Championships, sell entry tickets at the Maine Boats & Home Show, and provide  support for many other community projects.

Membership in West Bay Rotary provides an opportunity to share with others the ability to accomplish significant results when members work together for the good of others.  As described by its mission, "The Rotary Club of West Bay is a community leader that effects positive changes through service—locally and internationally.” Club members also abide by the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.” WBR members have made and continue to make many significant contributions to the Midcoast community and to the greater Rotary world.

West Bay Rotary meets on Thursday mornings from 7:30 am until 8:30 am at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St, Camden, ME 04843. Many members come as early as 7:00 am for breakfast and fellowship.  We currently meet via Zoom due to the pandemic.
