The Camden Hills Girls Soccer Windjammers are back, and with a bang! The Windjammers, coached by Meredith Messer, Josh Mahar, Jacqueline Wood, and Wade Ward, finished their last season as Northern A Finalists, and are back this season hungry for another chance at victory.

The varsity girls started off with a successful first game versus Hampden Academy Thursday, Sept. 3, which ended with the Jammers on top in an 8-0 game.

The Junior Varsity team also locked down a mercy win versus the Broncos. On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Camden Hills Varsity girls took on the Lewiston Blue Devils at home, and finished the game with a shocking 14 goals, Lewiston with 0.

The goal frenzy Sept. 8 began with No. 7 Senior captain, Thea Laukka, opening up the game in the first few minutes with a beautiful shot.

Laukka’s teammates did not hesitate to join her on the scoring board, with five other Windjammers earning a goal in the match.

Molly Williams, Junior captain No. 10, successfully added five to the Windjammer’s tally, and Sophomore captain, Liv Domareki, No. 5, earned three goals for the team.

Additionally, Sophomore No. 9, Rowan Witbeck, Freshman No. 3, Remi Caton, and Freshman No. 19, Katalina Kriste, all finished with one.

The Blue Devils conceded an only goal, adding to the score. Captain Thea Laukka finishes off the scoring with a final goal to secure the Jammers their home-opener win of 14-0.

The Junior Varsity Windjammer’s also earned a great victory of 10-0 against the Blue Devils.

Collette Nowak, Freshman No. 4, scored the first goal of the game, and led the scoring with an amazing four goals.

The chances kept coming for the JV Jammers resulting in Freshman No. 19, Katarina Kriste, Freshman No. 28, Kaida Nguyen, Sophomore No. 25, Margaret Garrigan, Sophomore No. 9, Rowan Witbeck, and Sophomore No. 27, Charley Hall all contributing with one goal to boost the score to 10-0, including an own goal from the opponent.

Both your Jammer teams showed astounding teamwork, combining well and setting each other up for good shots.

Notably, Eve Domareki, Junior captain No. 13, finished the night with the most assists for the team. The wins were a great show of team effort, and is just the way Camden Hills wants to start the season.

The Windjammers are feeling excited, as well as confident, heading into their next game against Edward Little. That game against the Red Eddies will kick off on Friday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. at Camden Hills Regional High School.
