Vehicle crash into Rockland parking lot sends three to hospital, damages multiple cars
ROCKLAND — A single-vehicle crash into a Rockland parking lot Tuesday afternoon resulted in four vehicles being hauled from the scene and three people being transported to MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.
Since being notified of the approximate 4:45 p.m., Sept. 29, motor vehicle crash, Rockland police have been working to understand the circumstances surrounding a northbound SUV cutting across the front lawn of Bangor Savings Bank, on Camden Street, and clipping through vegetation before landing on its side in the front parking lot next door, 91 Camden Street. The vehicle crashed into one parked vehicle, which was pushed into a second vehicle, which was pushed into a third. A four vehicle managed to remain unscathed.
Two passengers in the SUV self extricated, yet the seatbelted driver was unable to exit unassisted. Rockland Fire and EMS stabilized the vehicle before gaining entry and providing a way for the driver to step out. Two Rockland ambulances were used to transport two of the people. At Rockland's request, Rockport EMS was requested for the transport of the third person.
Camden Exxon hauled away two of the vehicles, one on the bed of the wrecker, and one towed behind. Creek Hill brought two flatbed wreckers.
