Red Flag Laws are now implemented in Maine. Come here more about these laws at this free speaker series. Talk by Margaret Groban on Maine Red Flag Law Implementation. Free and open to the public.

Last November, Maine voters passed a referendum to enact an Extreme Risk Protection Order law - commonly known as the Red Flag Law - by more than 60%. The harder work now begins: ensuring this new civil court process is accessible to those who need it, through education, training, and proactive community engagement. This presentation will focus specifically on the Red Flag and Yellow Flag processes - identifying points of overlap and key differences. It will also walk through the court forms developed for Red Flag petitions, and open the floor for feedback - an important part of refining implementation whenever a new law takes effect, so the process works as intended.

Please join us to hear Margaret Groban, Adjunct Faculty at the University of Maine School of Law retired federal prosecutor for the district of Maie and the National Domestic violence coordinator to the U.S. Department of Justice, and former Member of Maine’s Domestic Violence Homicide Rview panel. This talk is free and open to the public. Pre-registration by September 27 is suggested. Visit News and Events at newhopemidcoat.org. Registration is now open.
