Thursday, October 01, 2026 - 03:00 pm to 05:00 pmTHOMASTON — Join Georges River Land Trust and the Maine Forest Service, Thursday, Oct. 1, from 3 - 5 p.m., at the Rockland Bog Preserve in Thomaston, for a woodland walk looking admiring the changing fall forest, identifying plants and signs of animal activity, practicing mindfulness.
"This walk is a great way to explore the trails of the Rockland Bog, the largest peatland bog complex in the Midcoast!" said Georges River Land Trust, in a news release.
As the trees prepare for their seasonal change, participants will engage in mindful practices that foster a deeper connection with their woodland, according to GRLT. Participants will learn ways to connect and build a relationship with their woodland by reflecting in two distinct ecosystems. Facilitators will share tools and resources to help continue your stewardship journey.
This program is offered in partnership with Maine Tree Farm and Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District. Maine Tree Farm has donated writing materials for journaling and reflection exercises. Wear comfortable closed-toed shoes and bring your insect repellent of choice.
This event is free and open to everyone. Visit georgesriver.org/events to register.
Parking: 389-395 Beechwood St., in Thomaston, is the approximate location for the Rockland Bog Preserve trailhead. A large green GRLT sign sits at the top of the dirt driveway. Follow the dirt driveway to the large parking lot at the trailhead.
