Read, snack, and chat with Rockland Public Library's Middle School Book Club for 4th - 8th grade students. Upcoming meetings will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, and Thursday, Oct. 15, from 3:45 - 4:45 p.m., in the Library's Board Room.
Join Miss Katie for snacks and exploring all kinds of fun books through the Maine Student Book Award reading list: https://sites.google.com/view/mainestudentbookaward/home.
Kids get to pick their own book from the list every month, and book talk it to the group at the next meeting, according to a Library news release. Book list books are found on the teal cart in the Children's Room. This list covers recent fiction and nonfiction in all genres. Each year the list is chosen by Maine librarians, middle school kids around the state read as many of the books of the list as they would like, and in March the club will vote for the best book of the year.
Past kids' choice awards have gone to:
Refugee by Alan Gratz
Hoops by Matt Tavares
Alone by Megan E. Freeman
New members always welcome. RSVP with Miss Katie at kdrago@rocklandmaine.gov.
