The Camden Hills Regional High School Windjammer’s Girls Soccer Team played two games in three days this past week. On both accounts, the Jammer’s packed away two big wins. 

On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Jammers faced off against the Brunswick Dragons at an away game. Camden Hills had no trouble securing a 10-1 game, with a mercy win on the road.

Goal scorers for the game were Junior Captains No. 10 and No. 13, Molly Williams and Eve Domareki contributing with a total of seven of the 10 goals.

The three other Windjammer goals were scored by Sophomore Captain No. 5, Liv Domareki; Sophomore No. 17, Elsa Schwalm; and Freshman No. 19, Katalina Kriste. The JV Windjammer team also earned a win for the books. 

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Windjammers won a rivalry game at home versus Bangor High School for their homecoming game. The scoring began midway through the opening half with Molly Williams and a sneaky through-ball by Eve Domareki.

The floodgates were opened from there, and the Winjammer’s capitalized on the opportunity. Eve Domareki followed with a goal of her own soon after, to end the half 2-0 in favor of the home team.

Early on in the second half, Senior Captain No. 7, Thea Laukka, placed a header ball to Elsa Schwalm, who slammed it into the back of the net.

Molly Williams did not fail to score another outstanding goal after dribbling past the Rams’ back line to finish in net, making the score 4-0.

Liv Domareki increased the score to 7-0 later on in the game, with a hat trick. To end the game, Margaret Garrigan, Sophomore No. 25, laid in the final goal off of a crossbar shot, and finalized the score with 8 to Camden Hills, and 0 to Bangor Rams. 

Without a doubt, the Windjammers have set a tone in these first five games of the season. With five games in the book, the Jammers have successfully mercied each one. Five games, five mercies. Camden Hills plays Tuesday, Sept. 22, at home against the Mt. Ararat Eagles.

The Windjammers’ JV team was not given the opportunity to play, as Bangor made the decision not to bring a JV team to the homecoming match.
