VINALHAVEN — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Hufsey, 79, of Vinalhaven, Maine. Roger passed away after months of courageously battling congestive heart failure, surrounded by the family who lovingly cared for him until the end. He was born on May 31, 1947, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to Margaret and Mulford Hufsey, Jr. He also had a stepfather, Lester Pendelton, of Vinalhaven.

The family moved to Vinalhaven when Roger was 11, and he went on to graduate from Vinalhaven High School in 1965. Following high school, lobstering became his life's passion and career for 60 years. On June 10, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Hildings, and together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Roger was happiest on the water and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Pendelton and Mulford Hufsey, Jr., and his stepfather, Lester Pendelton.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hufsey; his daughter, Angela, and her husband, Bruce T. Miller; his grandchildren, Dustin Hufsey and his wife, Amber, Danielle Hufsey, and Madelyn Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Mackenzie, and Noah Hufsey, all of Vinalhaven.

Services will be private at the discretion of the family.
