Maxine D. Seekins, obituary
Mon, 09/14/2026 - 4:33pm
Maxine D. Seekins passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, after a period of declining health, she was 83 years old.
Always a worker, Maxine’s work life was spent working locally in the shoe factories and potato processing plant. Although Maxine did not have an abundance of hobbies, she very much enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also quite well known locally for her ability to create poetry, often “on demand” from a word or subject that people would come to her for. Her greatest pleasure without a doubt was visiting friends and family and enjoying good laughs, something she took with her until the end.
Maxine unfortunately did not have the easiest life, taking care of three boys followed by taking care of her husband Richard and their mother Erna. Through it all, she kept a positive attitude and never complained.
She is predeceased by her husband, Richard; her sons Earl and Travis; her brothers, Paul, Rodney, Everett, Kenneth, and Leonard; and by her sisters Ada and Ruthie.
Maxine is survived by her son Eric and his wife Jen, along with their two children Katie and Sam who Maxine adored; they absolutely adored her back. She also leaves behind her only living sibling, her sister Sharon; and her daughter-in-law Twyla Thompson.
Maxine’s Family would like to publicly thank Sharon Seekins and Twyla Thompson for keeping a watchful eye on her and to Gentiva Hospice for their comforting care.
In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11 a.m., at the Smart Cemetery in Belfast.
Memories and condolences may be shared with her family at ripostafh.com.
