Locals invited to contribute to time capsule being buried in Camden

Items buried in a time capsule this year will provide glimpses of today’s life in Camden for those who live here in 2076.How will Camden residents 50 years from now learn about life here in 2026?
"They’ll open a time capsule that will be buried on the south lawn of the Camden Public Library this summer," said a Camden Rotary Club news release.
The Camden Rotary Club, Camden Public Library, and Camden Rockport Historical Society invite locals to contribute drawings, photos, small mementos, news stories, letters to the future, and notes about predictions or hopes.
“We want people to help us seal a piece of our community’s story,” said event organizer Camden Rotarian Marci Annis. “We will safely store items for rediscovery in 2075. In celebrating the USA’s 250th anniversary, we’ll be making news on the 300th! We like to imagine people writing letters to their future selves or loved ones—capturing a moment in time to be rediscovered 50 years from now.”
Contributions are due no later than June 28 at these drop-off locations: Camden Public Library, Rockport Public Library, and the Camden Town Office.
The organizers ask donors to keep their items “safe, small, and timeless.”
