Event Date

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m., the Belfast Free Library presents a book launch and dramatic reading for Carolyn Locke’s release, Between Ray and Eva: A Memoir in Poetry.
Local author Carolyn Locke and her children, Alison and Jeffrey Locke, will do a dramatic reading from this moving memoir inspired by ten months of daily letters exchanged between Carolyn’s parents beginning in April of 1938 when Ray contracted tuberculosis.
The collection offers intimate glimpses into the lives of two young people confronted with this deadly disease just six months after they were married.
"It is a testament to the love, humor, and generosity that carried them through their separation during the time of the Great Depression and the years leading up to the Second World War," said a Library news release.
The program will take place in the Abbott Room of the Library and free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and books will be available for purchase.
