THOMASTON — The Medomak and Oceanside middle school girls soccer programs met Friday, Sept. 30 in Thomaston for what amounted to an exciting contest that took two overtime periods to determine a winner.
The game was a thriller throughout the entire first half with neither team finding the back of the net despite best efforts.
With nearly six minutes remaining in the contest, Medomak found its breaking the scoreless tie when Grace Townsend found the back of the net after Oceanside’s goalie deflected a Summer Staples shot.
A minute later, Oceanside tallied its own goal to tie the game back up, forcing overtime.
Neither team scored in the first overtime frame.
In the second overtime period, Staples found the back of the net with just under four minutes remaining to give Medomak a 2-1 victory.
