Maine artists exhibit “Clark Island” at The Craignair Gallery

Wednesday, August 26, 2026 - 04:00 pm to 06:00 pmThe Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of a group exhibition of fine art entitled “Clark Island” by local artists Gwen Sylvester, Susan Lewis Baines, Jean Kigel, Karin Strong and Thia Hamilton on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. These local artists, long inspired by the wonder and beauty of Clark Island, Maine, offer their artistic interpretations of the island.
Clark Island, now preserved by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, is a popular hiking and swimming location open to the public year-round, according to the Gallery, in a news release.
"Plein air artists are frequently attracted to it, and these featured artists have captured the beauty and special features of the island with their imaginative interpretations," said the Gallery.
Live music by Beverly Pacheco and refreshments will be offered at the opening reception for the artists.
“Clark Island” will be on exhibition from August 26 through September 28, 2026. The Craignair Gallery, located at 5 Third Street in Spruce Head, is open daily.
