Medomak girls soccer blanks Wiscasset in Busline quarterfinal

WALDOBORO — The Medomak middle school girls soccer team earned a dominating victory over Wiscasset in the Busline League quarterfinals Thursday, Oct. 6

Medomak found the back of the net less than five minutes into the playoff contest when Cali Readinger scored off a Grace Townsend assist. 

A minute later, Summer Staples tallied a goal courtesy of another Townsend assist. Three minutes later, Townsend found the back of the net before Anna Cheesman scored to boost Medomak’s lead to 4-0. 

Lilly Hills tallied the team’s fifth goal while Ivy McCollett snuck a goal in 30 seconds later off a Hannah Richards assist to make it six first half goals. 

Nine minutes into the second half, Staples scored before Rachel Barbour (Brook McNelly assist) made it 8-0. 

Ivy McCollett tallied Medomak’s final goal of the game. 

With the win, Medomak advances to the semifinals Wednesday, Oct. 12 against Troy Howard on the road in Belfast at 4 p.m.
