Pianist Adam Swanson to perform at Bay Chamber
CAMDEN — Adam Swanson will provide a piano concert Wednesday, May 7, at 1 p.m., in Hammer Hall. The music historian is the only four-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest. His work centers around ragtime, early jazz and the Great American Songbook.
Swanson has been a featured performer and lecturer at ragtime and jazz festivals across the United States and abroad. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 19, where he performed with singer and pianist Michael Feinstein. At 21, Swanson performed a solo concert at the Kennedy Center.
Swanson has recorded albums with noted musicians such Ian Whitcomb, the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, and the Bar D Wranglers. His recordings have been used on the CBC TV show Murdoch Mysteries.
