Medomak 8th softball collects win over Searsport
SEARSPORT — The Medomak Middle School eighth grade softball team hit the road for its second game of the season Thursday, May 2 to challenge Searsport.
After scoring two runs early, the visiting Riverhawks went into a “slump” — as described by coach Celia Philbrick — before rallying in the fifth and sixth innings.
Medomak plated six runs in the fifth inning and 11 in the sixth frame.
By game’s end, the Riverhawks collected a 23-11 victory.
Philbrick credited the victory to the pitching of Addison McCormick, catching of Mandi Karl and the team’s defense — namely, the team’s strong outfield.
“I am very proud of the way the girls stayed coachable and positive even when we were down,” Philbrick stated.
