8th Annual City Cleanup in Belfast, May 10
BELFAST — On Saturday, May 10, neighbors, families, and friends gather to clean up roads in Belfast as part of the 8th annual Keeping Belfast Maine Beautiful (KBMB) event.
"This beloved community effort, supported by the City of Belfast, countless volunteers, and generous local businesses, leaves our streets sparkling clean — with more than 25 tons of roadside garbage picked up in past years," said a news release.
Follow the signs to the new location on event day: 18 Hatley Road and the Bell the Cat parking lot.
This year’s event is sponsored by Hannaford and Bell The Cat. Pinkerton & Sons Removal is donating trash trucks to help haul away the collected waste.
From 7 – 9 a.m., team leads pick up supplies—including gloves, trash bags, and assignments—at the Bell The Cat parking lot. Volunteers are then grouped into teams and head out to cover designated areas throughout the city. In an effort to Reduce, Recycle and Reuse, please wear your KBMB T-shirts from a prior year.
After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a free BBQ from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring fresh-off-the-grill hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
"It’s a great opportunity to relax, reconnect, and celebrate our hard work together," said the release.
All collected trash is dropped off at the designated location in the side parking lot between Bell The Cat and Athena. Pinkerton & Sons will take care of disposal.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Refresh your community. One of the goals of KBMB is to inspire other communities to hold their own spring cleanups—because when we all pitch in, we can make a real difference.
