Rockport Common Groundbreaking Celebration to feature live jazz, local oysters and champagne toast
Rockport Common will host a Groundbreaking Celebration event July 24, at 5 p.m. at 40 West Street, Rockport.
Presented by the Rockport Common Programming Committee in partnership with the Lesher Family Foundation (LFF), the event includes food, live music, and remarks. Food and drinks, including a champagne toast and raw bar will be provided by E. Wales.
Live music will be courtesy Bay Chamber’s Jazz Ensemble, and remarks are to be followed by an exciting reveal, according to a news release.
This event marks a major milestone in a multi-year community effort to reimagine the former Rockport Elementary School site. Since the Town voted in June 2023 to accept the Lesher Family Foundation’s gift to build a public park, local leaders, designers, volunteers, and neighbors have come together to shape the vision for Rockport Common.
Construction begins this summer, with the park expected to open in 2026.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To RSVP, contact Kim Kimball at rockportcommon@gmail.com.
Rockport Common is a new public park made possible by a partnership between the Lesher Family Foundation and the Town of Rockport. Located on the site of the former Rockport Elementary School, the park will become a vibrant gathering place for the whole community. Thanks to Legacy Rockport and dozens of volunteers, the site hosted a full season of events in 2024 and a creek clean-up this spring.
