Guest artist at Local Color Gallery to give talk during Fourth Friday Artwalk
Sue Vittner will be a guest artist at Local Color Gallery from Tuesday, July 22 through Sunday, August 17. She will give an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. during Belfast’s Fourth Friday Artwalk on July 25 (4 to 7 p.m.)
According to Local Color Gallery, Vittner is deeply grateful to share her artwork with others and feels fortunate to live in Maine, where she finds daily inspiration in nature—the ocean, sky, clouds, and sunsets. She has been creating art for most of her life, taking college classes in drawing and oil painting and later experimenting with watercolors. Vittner is also a massage therapist, and over the past few years has started combining her two passions, massage and painting. Now, she often paints with her hands.
People often describe Vittner’s art as relaxing and peaceful, according to the gallery. Her desire is to help viewers feel the balance of stillness and movement, the dance of life within her creations. One of her art collectors once remarked, “She paints feelings, not places,” a statement that deeply resonates, as her creative process involves quieting her mind, opening herself to inspiration, and allowing Spirit to express through her.
Whether through her finger paintings or watercolors Vittner hopes that each time someone views one of her pieces they experience a visceral feeling that evokes an ever-new sense of joy, freedom, and inspiration.
Local Color Gallery is located at 135 High Street in Belfast. Current hours are 11 to 5, Tuesday through Saturday and 11 to 4 on Sunday. See www.localcolorgallerymaine.org or call 207-218-1249.
