Crowds grow, hold strong in weekly protests against federal actions
ROCKLAND — Weekly organized protests in Rockland against the Trump Administration started small in Februrary. By mid April, some people claimed to see an estimated 200 participants on one Saturday.
The Rockland protest crowd joined others in Augusta, April 5, but returned to its regular space at Chapman Park the following week.
They've complained to police about aggressive drivers aiming at them and other drivers scaring them as they walked crosswalks. At one point, someone pranked them by pulling down the American flag and raising a Trump flag. (That flag was removed and the U.S. flag returned soon after).
Still, the protesters stand. And return. And return again.
Last Saturday, May 3, 2025, as before, they hoisted their signs, distributed buttons, chanted, waved, and stood their ground.
