Medomak Valley, Medomak 8th softball teams earn mercy-rule wins
The Medomak Valley varsity softball team and the Medomak Middle eighth grade softball team both benefitted from the mercy-rule Wednesday, April 26 in their respective games against Waldo County teams.
Varsity Softball: Medomak Valley 12, Belfast 2 (5 innings)
Medomak Valley tallied four runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings. Belfast, meanwhile, plated two in the second.
At the plate for Medomak Valley: H. Puchalski (hit, RBI), S. Nelson (hit, RBI, walk), P. Eaton (two runs), A. McCormick (three runs, three hits), K. Williamson (three runs, three hits, RBI), K. Kurr (run), K. Simmons (run, RBI, walk), M. Boynton (run, two hits, four RBI, walk) and A. Sproul (run, hit, RBI, walk).
At the plate for Belfast: J. MacKay (run) and G. Moore (run).
M. Boynton worked five innings in the pitcher’s circle for the Panthers, tossing a no-hitter while surrendering two runs (one earned) and three walks. She fanned five batters.
Pitching for the Lions were J. MacKay (three innings, seven hits, eight runs, six earned runs, three walks, one strikeout) and D. Gray (two strikeouts, four hits, four runs, four earned runs, one walk, one strikeout).
8th Grade Softball: Medomak 19, Searsport 1 (4 innings)
Medomak plated eight runs in the opening inning, three in the second, two in the third and six in the fourth. The lone run for Searsport came in the first inning.
Searsport’s pitcher, Sidney (no last name available), fanned five batters, walked seven, struck one and allowed 12 hits. For Medomak, Sidney Nicholls fanned 11, walked one, struck four and allowed two hits.
At the plate for Medomak: Grace Townsend (single, double, walk, hit by pitch), Paige Gerlack (single, two doubles, walk), Jennika Schumann (two singles, double), Rachel Barbour (two singles), Grace Havener (single, homerun, two walks), Ariel Castner (single, walk), Sidney Nicholls (single, walk), Ivy McCollett (walk), Molly Emerson (walk) and Arie Kennard (walk).
