Medomak 8th softball avenges lone loss of season

BELFAST — The Medomak eighth grade softball team hit the road Tuesday, June 1 seeking to avenge its only loss of the season. 

In Belfast, challenging Troy Howard, the Riverhawks accomplished its mission with a 13-5 victory over the hosts. 

At the plate for Medomak were Kytana Williamson (three walks), Audrey Jackson (two singles, double, two RBI), Lilly Christ (two walks), Skylar Hills (walk), Lillian Harvey (walk), Michaela Lewis (hit by pitch), Jaiden Seavey (walk), Maddy Wilshire (walk) and Erica Waite (two singles, RBI). 

At the plate for Troy Howard were Tripp (double), Pareulea (walk) and Morgan (single). Full names for Troy Howard were not available. 

Williamson (14 strikeouts, walk, two hits) worked the pitcher’s circle for Medomak while Danica Gray (three walks, hit), Pratt (two hit by pitches, six walks, six strikeouts, hit), and Jordan Mackey (10 strikeouts, two walks, two hits) pitched for Troy Howard. 

In the first inning, Medomak tallied four runs when Williamson, Jackson and Christ stole home plate while Hills scored off a walk. Troy Howard countered in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs thanks to back-to-back errors. 

Williamson and Jackson each walked to start the second inning and each stole their way around the bases, including home, to push Medomak’s lead back to a four run advantage. 

In the third inning, Waite singled in Seavey, who had walked and swiped two bases. Waite managed to score off an error before Williamson, again, stole her way around the bases and home to make it a 9-2 affair. 

In the fourth inning, Medomak’s lead was pushed to 10-2 when Hills reached base on an error and stole her way around the entire diamond. Troy Howard tallied a trio of runs with Tripp and MacKay scoring off errors. Moore also scored. 

The next two innings went scoreless for both squads to keep the tally 10-5. 

In the seventh inning, Medomak plated three more runs when Jackson roped a two-run double and Williamson scored on a passed ball.
