MaineHealth symposium focuses on youth eating disorders, Oct. 10
PORTLAND — MaineHealth will host its annual Glickman Family Center Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Symposium on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m., at the MaineHealth Conference Center, 110 Free Street, Portland. The event will convene national and local experts to address current trends in eating disorders among children and adolescents, "one of the most pressing behavioral health concerns facing youth today," said MaineHealth.
The symposium will feature a keynote address by Lisa Namerow, MD, University of Connecticut School of Medicine, followed by a series of sessions exploring a multidisciplinary approach to eating disorder treatment. Topics include adolescent medicine perspectives, screening and treatment strategies within weight management programs, gastroenterology insights, and therapeutic approaches such as family-based and individual therapy.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion on strategies for effective communication and collaboration across disciplines to improve care for adolescents and adults with eating disorders. Attendees are eligible to earn 6 CME credits, and breakfast and lunch are included with registration.
“At MaineHealth, we recognize the urgent need for greater awareness and collaboration around eating disorders in children and adolescents. This symposium provides an opportunity to learn from leading experts and strengthen the care we provide across our communities,” said Melissa Bowker-Kinley, Vice President of Physician and APP Services at MaineHealth Behavioral Health.
