Linda Lufkin Kaler, obituary
WARREN — Linda Lufkin Kaler, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born in Rockland, July 5, 1950, she was the daughter of Ronald K. Sr. and Virginia Mills Lufkin. She lived in Rockland during her childhood and moved to Warren with her parents and seven siblings at age 13. She graduated in 1968, as a member of the last class of Warren High School.
On October 23, 1971, Linda married Walter L. Kaler in Warren at the home of her parents, creating a marriage just shy of 54 years. Together they raised a daughter and a son.
In her early years she was a stay-at-home mother and cared for many neighborhood kids. At the same time she was an at home hairdresser doing many perms in the 70’s and 80’s, including teaching her husband to perm her hair. For 33 years she was employed at the Green Thumb in Rockport, then at Moose Crossing Garden Center in Waldoboro, where she worked until her retirement.
One of Linda’s monthly activities which turned into weekly, when possible, was continuing the tradition of “Mom’s Night Out” to “Sister’s Night Out”, to “Sister’s Weekly Outing”. They frequented local restaurants, local sights, and visited many historical and scenic places in the area.
She was an active member of the Second Congregational Church of Warren. She was one of the founding committee members and secretary of the Riverside Fellowship Scholarship Fund to help local youth of the church pursue higher education.
Another group Linda was active in was the Riverside Fellowship Club of the church that for many years put on a yearly talent/comedy show for the public. A lot of dancing and singing was performed by many talented members of the club which led to Linda taking up the hobby of clogging with the Stepping Out Cloggers with her mother, which she enjoyed very much. They enjoyed performing in public recitals.
Her favorite activities were gardening, family camping (especially at Lufkin Pond), hiking, kayaking, playing scrabble and cribbage with family and friends and most of all dancing. She was always up for a night on the town with Walter cutting a rug.
Linda was predeceased by her parents and two sisters-in-law, Sandra W. Lufkin and Susan Lufkin.
