Simonton Corner Community Hall celebrates 101 years of connection, launches 'Raise the Roof' fundraiser
Since 1923, The Hall at Simonton Corner has been the heart of neighborhood gatherings in Rockport. From dances and suppers to concerts, weddings and community meetings, the Hall has welcomed generations of neighbors through its doors.
To ensure that all continues, The Simonton Corner Community Association has launched its “Raise the Roof” campaign, a fundraiser to restore the Hall’s roof and upgrade its kitchen so the building can continue serving the community for the next century of life, music, and celebration.
To date, The Hall has received a generous grant from Legacy Rockport and donations from The First, Performance Paving, Cates Realty, and Bangor Savings Bank. The contributions have given the campaign a strong start, but the Association is now seeking to raise an additional $5,000 before winter to complete critical roofing work before cold weather sets in.
Over the next month, the Hall will host a series of events:
Friday, October 17, 7 p.m., Live Music Concert featuring Sonic Wallpaper, New The Fins and The Butter Hill Gang
Friday, October 24, The Midnight Riders
Friday, October 31, Halloween Concert
Wednesday, November 5, Community Potluck Supper
All events are open to the public and support the Raise the Roof campaign.
