Maine Coast Heritage Trust holds Community Potluck at Erickson, Oct. 30
Thursday, Oct. 30, Maine Coast Heritage Trust will host a Community Potluck to celebrate the hundreds of volunteers who have contributed to the food access and educational agriculture programs at Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields Preserve in Rockport.
The Community Potluck will be held from 4 - 5:30 p.m., at Erickson Fields Preserve, 164 West Street, in Rockport (rain location: Aldermere Farm, 20 Russell Ave, Rockport).
The public is invited to bring a dish to share and join MCHT’s farmers in the celebration of a fruitful farm season and appreciate the abundance that many hands working together brings. MCHT staff will share highlights from working with volunteers and upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Aldermere and Erickson Fields Outreach Manager, Joelle Albury, has been working closely with MCHT’s volunteers for more than a decade and says they are crucial to the programs at the farm preserves.
“Many hands make light work," said Albury. "We can’t accomplish everything we do without many hands. Last year, 163 volunteers contributed more than 900 hours of community service at the farm preserves. Every year, volunteers help us distribute thousands of pounds of food to pantries, mentor youth in our programs year-round, lead farm tours, and help educate the public about land conservation. They are our connection to the community and make these preserves more welcoming places.”
The Community Potluck is free and open to the public. Registration is required and is available online at aldermere.org/community-potluck and by calling 207-236-2739.
Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields are working farm preserves managed by Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a statewide land conservation organization. For more information about the preserves, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and volunteering, visit aldermere.org.
