CAMDEN — Gresham Benjamin Williams, 50, of Camden, passed away on July 22, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born July 15, 1976, in Camden, Maine, to parents Phillip Williams and Vicki Wood. 

Gresham attended Camden Hills Regional High School and later spent two years studying business in Florida. Over the years, he worked in a variety of roles, including with Buzz Cut Lawn Services, alongside his father Phillip “Buzz” Williams and brother Patrick Williams; as a stoneworker at Brooks Monument; at 18 Central restaurant; and as a self-employed earth worker and stone artist.

Gresham had a passion for working outdoors and creating beautiful spaces. He took pride in landscaping, stonework, and caring for the earth. He also had a special habit of collecting “heart rocks” and giving them to friends and loved ones as small tokens of his affection.

Those who knew Gresham knew that he was always looking for a way to be an “everyday hero.” He enjoyed staying busy, but more than that, he enjoyed being useful. You never quite knew when Gresham might pull over to the side of the road, fire up his leaf blower, and decide an area needed to “look nice.” He could be scrolling through Facebook and come across someone who needed a hand, and before long, Gresham would be on his way to help.

Sometimes it was bringing someone a jug of water from the spring simply because he was “riding by.” Sometimes it was helping a person who had accidentally locked themselves out of their car. Other times, it was finding something useful during one of his many “treasure hunts” and being genuinely excited to pass it along to someone who needed it. Whether the person was a longtime friend or a complete stranger, Gresham found joy in helping.

He was also a loyal lifelong fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Bruins. He enjoyed bowling with his father and brother and especially looked forward to the year-end league trips to tropical islands.

Gresham leaves behind his son, Benjamin Michael Williams of Camden; his daughter, Marleigh Williams of Camden; his mother, Vicki Scott of Rockport; his father, Phillip Williams of Melbourne, Florida; his stepfather, Theodore Scott of Tenant’s Harbor; his brothers, Patrick Williams of Melbourne, Florida, and Morgan “Miles” Remington Scott of Deltona, Florida; and his sisters, Jessica Goodell of Old Orchard Beach, Ariana Elizabeth Anne Scott of Tenant’s Harbor, and Victoria Danielle Scott of Rockland.

Gresham’s life was made up of many seemingly small moments—helping someone out, making something look a little better, finding a “treasure,” or handing someone a heart-shaped rock. But those small acts were very much who he was. He gave his time, his energy, and his kindness freely, and he leaves behind people who will remember him for the many ways, both big and small, that he showed up for them.

A Celebration of Life for Gresham will be held September 7, 2026, at 3 p.m., at Studio JBone, 131 Camden Road, Warren, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with cremation and memorial expenses, as well as to help support Gresham’s surviving children, Benjamin and Marleigh, may be sent to his mother, Vicki Scott, at 61 Vinal St., Rockport, Maine 04856.
