Crime writers panel at Jackson Memorial Library: Their work and how to tell good stories
Event Date
Thursday, August 27, 2026 - 05:00 pm to 06:30 pmJoin Jackson Memorial Library, Thursday, Aug. 27, from 5 - 6:30 p.m., for a multi-author discussion and Q&A with crime and thriller authors Gabi Stiteler, Margot Anne Kelley, and Robert T. Kelley. The authors will talk about their work, their work-in-progress, how to tell good stories, and how to get them out into the world.
Gabriela Stiteler is a writer whose short fiction has appeared in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, and elsewhere. Her debut story, “Two Hours West of Nothing,” was a finalist for the Robert L. Fish Award and was short-listed for The Best American Mystery and Suspense of 2024. She is a 2025 Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance Bodwell Award recipient and received Ellery Queen Readers’ Choice recognition for her 2025 story “The Usual Reasons.” Her story "Beautiful, Dangerous Things" will appear in Best American Mystery and Suspense 2026.
Margot Anne Kelley is new to crime writing. After many years writing nonfiction, she penned her first murder mystery, Marked for Murder, which features a neurodivergent artist who teaches at a college in Boston. It will come out in fall 2027, and she’s already thinking about another dark adventure for her next mystery.
Robert T. Kelley writes high-stakes, high-velocity thrillers in which power, privilege, and peril collide. He is the author of short stories and novels, including the technology thriller Raven, a finalist for the Maine Literary Awards. He draws on over 30 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur as well as his social justice work to create propulsive stories that resonate with readers, according to a Library news release. Formerly the publisher of the quarterly literary journal, The Maine Review, Rob now regularly writes on the Maine Crime Writers blog.
Refreshments will be served. Books will be available for purchase.
