WALDOBORO — Gravedigger's Daughter presents "Mason & Dixon," a solo exhibition of photographs by Drew Leventhal, on view August 21–September 13, 2026.

Developed over seven years, "Mason & Dixon" follows Leventhal's travels along the historic Mason–Dixon Line, exploring the intersections of landscape, memory, and American identity. Inspired by Thomas Pynchon's novel of the same name, the project evolved from a literary response into a photographic survey of the region, where colonial history, mythology, and contemporary culture converge.

"Through images that blur documentary observation and surreal suggestion, Leventhal considers the Mason–Dixon Line as both a physical boundary and a symbolic divide," said a Gravedigger's Daughter news release.

Leventhal (b. 1995) is a photographer based in Providence, Rhode Island. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Vassar College and an M.F.A. in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. "Mason & Dixon" was recognized as a 2025 Photolucida Critical Mass Top 50 portfolio. Leventhal recently returned from Ireland, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. 

An opening reception will be held Friday, Aug. 28, from 4 - 7 p.m., during Artwalk Waldoboro. Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 1–7 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.; and by appointment.
