Gerald E. Thibodeau, obituary

ROCKPORT — Gerald E. Thibodeau, son of Erland and Ruth Carleton Thibodeau, passed away on December 1, 2025. Gerald graduated from Rockport High School; while still in school he worked at the Tannery in Camden. He married Janet Watts in 1954; together they raised six children.
Gerald was store manager for Mammoth Mart and Kings for several years. In the early 80s Gerald and Janet wanted to try something different, they worked winters at the Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande Florida for over twelve years, they ran the beach club there. After that they worked at the Hillsboro Club Resort for several years. Gerald was a lifelong resident of Rockport.
Gerald and Janet were married for 64 years when Janet passed away in 2019. Gerald enjoyed watching sports with football being his favorite sport.In his younger years he and Janet enjoyed going to dances and out to dinner with friends and camping. One camping trip was to Canada for Expo 67, Gerald and Janet took their three oldest children on that one.
Gerald also enjoyed taking his children fishing. Gerald was a life member of the Elks #1008 in Rockland and the Maine Masons, Rockport Masonic Lodge #6, and was a volunteer fireman in Rockport when he was younger.
Gerald was predeceased by his mother and father; wife, Janet; son Jerry; brother, Carl; sister Beatrice; brothers-in-law, Malcolm and Matt, and Jim and his wife Janice (Janet's twin sister); mother-in-law, Maude; and daughter-in-law Stephanie. Gerald's daughter Cheryl passed away five days after Gerald.
Gerald is survived by his daughter Dawn; sons Arthur, Steve (Tina ), Wayne ( Hillary); and sister Erla; grandchildren: Jamie, Lyle, Nicole, Kelly, Ashley, Andrew, Danielle, Mike, Megan, Georgia and Jacqueline; great grandchildren: Jordan, Javin, Oliver, Koda, Elise, Ava, Rylee, Mason, Cruz Gerald, Jack and Luke; great great grandchildren: Bennett, Warden and Beckham; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
