The history of a five-masted Maine-built schooner with a colorful career will be told by writer Steve Cartwright on August 20, at 6 p.m., at the Town Hall in Tenants Harbor.
The Cora F. Cressy, launched at Bath in 1902, was at one time under the command of Ellis Haskell of Tenants Harbor, who came from a family of ship captains. After many adventures and mis-adventures, the Cressy wound up in Muscongus Bay, "a hulk beside a lobster pound," according to St. George Historical Society, in a news release.
"Cartwright walked the decks as a kid, and will share that and other stories of this remarkable vessel," said the news release.
The event is sponsored by the St.George Historical Society, and is free and open to all.
