UPDATE: For second time in the day, Route 1 Rockport traffic reduced to one lane at hospital intersection
UPDATE (1:40 p.m.): Having been reopened fully to traffic following a morning motor vehicle crash, Commercial Street in Rockport at the Glen Cove Drive intersection has returned to one-lane travel after a truck pulled down a traffic wire just prior to 1:30 p.m.
Rockport Fire and EMS have returned to the scene to direct traffic while awaiting arrival of the utility repair company.
Rockport firefighters returned to their station at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Route 1 Rockport traffic reduced to one lane following single-vehicle crash
ROCKPORT (9:35 a.m.) — Traffic had been reduced to one lane on Commercial Street in front of the entrance to MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital following a Monday morning single-vehicle car crash at that intersection.
At approximately 6:55 a.m., July 20, Knox Regional Communications Center received multiple reports of a car crossing the center line and going into a copse of vegetation. After being extricated from the vehicle by Rockport Fire Department, the single occupant was transported to the hospital. A dog was taken from the scene by Rockport FD.
As a couple Rockport police officers investigated the scene, another provided traffic control.
Initially, the traffic lights at the intersection remained fully functioning. However, by 8:30 a.m., concerns had developed regarding whether the lights had stopped working properly. The lights at that intersection are owned by the Town, however, Maine Dept. of Transportation assisted by contacting the local company that handles the Town's lights.
By 9:15 a.m., the vehicle had been removed from the scene by Camden Exxon.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., a 2-vehicle crash in St. George sent both vehicles into the woods. No injuries were reported and Automaster Towing hauled the vehicles from the scene.
At approximately 8:45 a.m., a vehicle hit a tree at the intersection of Keating Road and Camden Road (Route 90) in Warren. That crash damaged a utility pole. No injuries were reported there, either.
