A talk by Victoria Wyeth about her family’s enduring connection to Midcoast Maine. Proceeds benefit the Penobscot Bay YMCA Summer Camp
Thursday, August 13 • 2:30 PM • Penobscot Bay YMCA's Camden Rotary Community Room • Lecture and light refreshments • $25 admission
The Wyeth family's love of Maine is inseparable from their art — it was here on the Midcoast that Andrew Wyeth met his future wife, Betsy James, in 1939, and it was she who introduced him to the land, the people, and the coastal light that would shape his most iconic work. Their summers in Cushing became the source of paintings that defined a generation. Victoria Browning Wyeth — the only grandchild of Andrew Wyeth and keeper of a creative legacy spanning N.C., Andrew, and Jamie — brings that story to life through intimate personal stories, family photographs, and firsthand accounts drawn from years of conversations with her grandfather and uncle.
On Thursday, August 13th, Victoria will share that legacy with us while honoring something Andrew and Betsy understood deeply: that summers in Maine leave a lasting mark, and the summer experiences we give children here at the Y last a lifetime. All proceeds will benefit the Penobscot Bay YMCA's vital summer camp program.
