Crews battle overnight structure fire in Owls Head
OWLS HEAD (10/23/2025 at 8:35 a.m.) — The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of a structure fire in an approximate 30' X 150' workshop that had once been a barn at 160 North Shore Drive, in Owls Head. Other than one vehicle in the structure, firefighters at the scene were unable to identify the nature of the workshop due to the building and all items being completely destroyed. Another vehicle on the property was not inside the barn.
Rockland EMS is the contracted ambulance service for medical calls. However, when a structure fire occurs, "we have South Thomaston Ambulance there because we are required to have an ambulance on scene staffed and ready to go," said OHFD Chief Steven Hallett. "In a situation where it is a structure fire we would rather use Rockland to assist with fighting the fire and not having to staff the ambulance."
