Osher Scholarship Available for First-Time and Returning Students

Rockland - The UMA Rockland Center announces the availability of Osher New Beginnings Scholarships for those interested in exploring college in the upcoming semester that begins in January.

“This scholarship was established especially for those who are first-time college students,” stated UMA Rockland Center Director Chip Curry. “It can be a cost-free way for those wanting to determine if college is a good fit for them. Many who try one course find out that pursuing a degree is a real possibility.”

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Maine and have earned either a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference is given to first-time college students and returning adult students who have not attended college for three or more years and have accumulated thirty or fewer credit hours.

An Osher Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, fees, and books for one or two courses, providing an individual the opportunity to start or re-start their college education with minimal risk.

For nearly 50 years, the UMA Rockland Center has supported thousands of students in earning their degrees and achieving their career goals.  Advisors support students from admissions through graduation and beyond.  Students can select courses that fit their schedule and learning style, including in-person classes at the Rockland Center, Zoom-based courses, and online courses, which offer the greatest flexibility for students with busy schedules.
