Maria J. King shadowbox exhibit in Searsmont reflects verbal, pictorial arts in two installments
From November 1 through December 30, 2025, Searsmont Town Library is featuring the work of Maria J. King.
Consisting of art-inspired tableaux in the form of shadow boxes, these works reflect the verbal and pictorial arts, in two installments: Law & Justice (presenting poetry by Robert Reuven Stiller), and Harmony of Trifles (works by Joan Proudman, the Pre-Raphaelites, and a tribute to the American shadow box pioneer Joseph Cornell.
Additionally, there will be some seasonal winter-related works among other ephemera.
A reception for the artist will be held Friday, November 14, from 5 - 6 p.m.
A catalog of detailed explanatory descriptions, comparisons and sources is available throughout the exhibition.
