Searsport student theatre tackles 'Six: Teen Edition' this weekend
Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived.
Henry VIII’s six wives return to the stage as Searsport District Middle/High School Theater presents the musical Six: Teen Edition, opening Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., and running Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m., and a Sunday matinee, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m.
Six: Teen Edition is a high-energy, pop concert-style musical that reimagines the stories of Henry VIII’s six wives.
"Adapted for teen performers and family audiences, the show turns history into a vibrant competition as the queens take to the stage to tell their sides of the story through infectious songs and dance numbers, ultimately celebrating empowerment, strength, resilience, and sisterhood," said a news release.
Starring in the production are Dilyla Brown as Catherine of Aragon, Shelby Traves as Anne Boleyn, Haylie Whitney as Jane Seymour, Selina Cantres as Anna of Cleves, Annaliese Traves as Katherine Howard, and Kylie Whitcomb as Catherine Parr.
Ensemble members include Madie Boyd, Lillian Boyd, Isabella Seekins, and Rain Lane as the queens’ “air band”, Nellie Stanley as Christina of Denmark, Dayzi Brown-Seekins as Amalia of Cleves, Dallas Moulton and Jaxson Gilmore-Gross as footmen, Alton Penney as King Henry, and Tabitha Cook, Maggie Lally, Abby Lally, Bella Rose McAvoy, Harper Smith, Natalia Stone, and Mabel Washburn as the queens’ ladies in waiting.
Costuming by Susan Capwell and Keira Saball. Lighting by Ian Cottrell and Aaron Reynolds. Set by Cora Lockhart, Isabella Seekins, Violet DeTurk, Trevor Range, Rain Lane, Jordan Alberts, Bella Rose McAvoy, and Anna Traves. Produced and Directed by Christi Goosman.
