Hiking Club heads to Haystack Mountain Preserve
Georges River Land Trust welcomes the return of Hiking Club, a guided series of hikes across the land trust’s preserves year-round.
"These walks are a great way to explore trails throughout the St. George River watershed with a group," said GRLT.
From Montville to Cushing, Georges River Land Trust maintains over 80 miles of public, multiuse trails.
Join Georges River Land Trust for a group hike at Haystack Mountain Preserve in Liberty, Saturday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m.
Haystack Mountain, straddling the towns of Liberty and Montville, provides beautiful views of Trues Pond and Kingdom Bog. This hike is 1.1-miles each way and features moderate to steep elevation. Hikers should meet at the parking lot beyond the Maine Health Primary Care office in Liberty, in front of the baseball fields. Good walking shoes and drinking water are recommended.
Conserved by grassroots efforts by the Friends of Haystack Mountain with support from Midcoast Conservancy, Haystack Mountain was transferred this summer to Georges River Land Trust.
Registration is recommended. This walk is open to all ages. Visit georgesriver.org/events to learn more and sign up.
